Neighbourhood Planning
What is a Neighbourhood Plan?
Neighbourhood Plans were introduced by the Localism Act 2011.
Tetsworth Parish Council approved the production of one at its meeting on 11 April 2016. A committee has been established that reports to the parish council. Tetsworth Neighbourhood Plan (NP) Progress Update (Aug 2017)
The NP Questionnaire response window closed at the end of May. Many thanks to the 273 Tetsworth residents who took the trouble to participate. Your views have helped the NP Steering Group develop policies which reflect the majority views. Some of you will have seen a summary display of the Questionnaire results which was mounted at the Tetsworth Village Fete on Saturday 24 June when the winner of the Prize Draw was also announced. This display will also be exhibited again at the village Craft and Flower Show on Sunday 27 August (Bank Holiday Sunday).
Armed with the Questionnaire findings, the NP Steering Group has now drafted an initial version of the Tetsworth NP document. Once we have SODC advice that we are progressing along the right lines, a Pre-Submission draft of the Plan will be published for a period of public consultation by Tetsworth residents and others with a local interest. This should be occurring during the autumn with the aim of forwarding a Submission version to SODC before the end of the year. The remaining stages of the NP development process which include further public consultation, independent examination and a local referendum will then largely be in the hands of SODC.

TETSWORTH NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN – PROGRESS REPORT (5 October 2016)
Many of you will have seen the Tetsworth Neighbourhood Plan (NP) display at the Parish Annual Meeting, Summer Fete or Craft & Produce Show. However, many more may not know what we have achieved so far, and what we are planning for the next few months.
A NP Steering Group of approximately a dozen local volunteers was formed in the Spring and adopted by the Tetsworth Parish Council as a sub-committee. Since then, we have prepared a budget which should ensure that costs will be covered by external grants, and drafted a project plan which anticipates publication of the NP by August next year. We have also proposed the Tetsworth NP area to be the whole of Tetsworth parish plus a narrow A40/M40 corridor extension eastwards towards Postcombe. This designation has been subject to SODC consultation, but we are expecting its confirmation by the end of September.
The Steering Group has also defined provisional Vision and Objective statements under which local policies can be developed and tested by means of a village survey. The statements are:
Vision: To sustain Tetsworth as an inclusive, rural community with an ever more attractive and vibrant future.
Objectives:
Housing: Support a mix of high quality housing that reflects the housing types and tenures required by the local community and is in proportion with the size and rural character of the parish.
Business and Employment: Support employment opportunities which contribute to the local community and enable economic growth and development in sustainable locations.
Environment: Protect the rural landscape character and setting of Tetsworth while supporting and enhancing local amenities and environmental assets.
Infrastructure and Community: Identify and support service improvements and infrastructure initiatives which enhance the sustainability of Tetsworth as a thriving, accessible and inclusive community.
If you have any alternative suggestions or wish to play a part in the Tetsworth NP development project, please contact us through tetsworthnp@gmail.com.
For the near term future, we will be applying for grant funding from SODC and possibly elsewhere, and preparing a Residents’ Survey to gather your opinions on what you want to see as policies in the final NP document. Much of the housing and business data collected for the Tetsworth CLP is still relevant and will help us to frame the questions included in this survey. It is essential that we should achieve broad community engagement so that our NP reflects a consensus of local views on future development in Tetsworth. We therefore urge you to respond to the survey when it lands through your letter-boxes.
